Most of the telecom companies were inspired with the FBF8 conference last year and looking forward for this year session on April 18th & 19th 2017.

Mark Zuckerberg kicked the conference off with a keynote detailing Facebook’s 10-year technology roadmap, and the ways those technologies will help bring people together and give everyone a voice.

Facebook is proposing to connect the half of the planet’s 7 billion people without Internet access, and deepening the connections with those that do, through an arsenal of virtual and augmented reality, artificial intelligence, drones, bots, live video and its Messenger platform. The visionary (yes, he merits that description) behind it all, Zuckerberg, has fit the pieces together in a digital mosaic that should have the undivided attention of Google, Apple, Amazon and others.

Zuckerberg’s vision to connect the world isn’t entirely altruistic. More customers mean more advertisers, and potential billions in revenue, for a company valued at about $325 billion.

Regulators in India last year suspended Facebook’s Free Basics initiative, which provides Internet access through simplified phone applications, on the grounds mobile phone companies should not be allowed to “‘shape the users’ Internet experience” by providing free access only to certain services

A lot of these ambitious plans in building technology road map can be possible only by having a vision for the existence of the organization like Facebook ‘ Give everyone the power to share anything with anyone’

So, How the next 10 years of technology, As per Mark

Connectivity — The ambitious goal includes launching satellite to sub-Saharan Africa to connect billion people in the continent, powerful systems Aries & Terragraph to connect the urban areas, Users to make use of affordable data plans — ‘make data cheaper’.

With TELECOM INFRA PROJECT with strategy to connect the world of Telco players network with Open Compute Project Initiative (~taping the potential of 400 billion market associated with traditional hardware players). With this most of the telecom players can build network with open source hardware based on OCP/OCS

Facebook’s Connectivity Lab is working on a range of new technology solutions to help connect the unconnected and improve the experience of the underserved. Today FB has two new terrestrial systems focused on improving the speed, efficiency, and quality of internet connectivity around the world: Terragraph, a wireless system for dense urban areas; and ARIES, a proof-of-concept research project to provide wide-coverage connectivity to areas with low population density.

The technology road-map for connectivity in next 10 years are truly based on — Drones, Satellites, Lasers, Terrestrial Solutions, Telco Infra & Free Basics (Do you know how traditional telecom players think of?)

Artificial Intelligence — Making most of the senses that human has while communicating/sharing among the users. People who are visually impaired can still use this platform. The Applied Machine Learning team provides a glimpse into the AI backbone that powers various Facebook experiences. The FB team’s ongoing research efforts will enable even better ways for people to connect, with new capabilities such as language translation, image understanding that allows photos to be searched for and classified by the image context rather than tags, and classifying videos in real time to help navigate the increasingly rich content people create every day.

Virtual & Augmented Reality — It changes the way we live in the content rich world of massive data. Virtual reality has the potential to be more social than any other platform. Our recently established Social VR team is exploring how people can connect and share using today’s VR technology, as well as long-term possibilities as VR evolves into an increasingly important computing platform. Some of the challenges they’re working on involve combining a sense of presence with the ability to interact with the environment and communicating through body language as well as voice.

Now, Its time to listen how the traditional telecom players would like to complement with Facebook in powering consumer & business for ‘Born Connected Generations’ in the year forward.
